Physical therapy is primarily concerned with identifying and maximizing the quality of life and movement potential either through diagnosis, treatment, intervention or rehabilitation. Our physical therapists work to make the transition from hospital to home easier by assisting the patient to get back on their feet as quickly as is possible.

When our therapists first meet with a client, they normally perform an evaluation prior to developing a plan for treatment which may include:

  • Evaluating the home environment and providing strategies to assist the patient in home safety and accident prevention
  • Assisting the patient to procure the necessary equipment to assist in their rehabilitation
  • Therapeutic exercises to improve strength, joint range of motion and balance
  • Therapeutic exercises to increase endurance and general conditioning
  • Prescribing Individualized exercise programs
  • Teaching increased bed mobility and transfer training to enable the patient move more freely
  • Massage to decrease pain, muscle spasms and improve flexibility
  • Educating patients about their limitations and assisting them to overcome them
  • Teaching family members, friends and other care givers involved in the patients care about how best to assist the patient while providing for their independence
  • Educating patients on pain management and Therapeutic treatment post surgery or injury
